Steve and i just got back from a trip to NYC, we met our new friend James at a roof-top Yeasayer show. He is a rad kid from Williamsburg who makes shirts under the name Jawmaker and sells them Thursday’s and Sunday’s in Union Square.

What have you built in the past week?
Yes it’s true….Steve Opperman recently turned 25 and to celebrate we had a theme party for him at our friend Winston’s loft in downtown LA. The theme was dress up as the many looks of Steve through the years.

We are really into camping….when you live in a city where you never even see grass it’s nice to get out to the wild (”wild” meaning a SoCal campground that has WiFi and paved roads….)
Anyways this is as close to Canada as you can get for LA so we’re not complainin
Where did you go camping this summer?
We recently had a combo birthday party for our friends Nathaniel and Kelli….the theme was 1984 Los Angeles Olympics. I’m sure you can imagine it was rad, we had a 100m dash on the street, limbo contest (which Opperman destroyed as usual) and a bunch of dance-offs to the new Cut Copy album “In Ghost Colours”

We just got back from a great tradeshow in Vegas and all we heard from our stores was that “the jeans fit great and sell even better” so needless to say we were stoked and did backflips and fingersnaps all week….
In other news, our friend Shanna who launched denimhunt.com, a site devoted to all things denim, wrote a great article/interview on your favourite jeans line COO.

We just got back from a great tradeshow in Vegas (which i will post some photos from soon) and found out that we were featured on TV last night in the motherland (that would be Canada)
Since most of you likely aren’t up on your TV programming north of the border, here’s the video clip. Watch it and let us know what you think and if you saw it in Canada!
Steve and I along with a bunch of friends caught up with brothers Ran and Rickey from The Daylights.
I had never heard them before so i spent about 45 minutes listening to the opening band Malbec, thinking it was The Daylights the whole time….
Once i got that sorted out we watched the brothers play a killer show that was so good we had to yell and throw out a lot of fist pumping
So last night my girlfriend gave me these cigarettes* called “Captain Black Pirate Cigarettes”
Today after lunch steve and i took two outta the package and thought it would be a great idea to start smoking inside our office….just to keep the spirit of the 70’s executive alive.
Question for discussion: does smoking at work make you appear cooler? Or does it actually make you cooler?
*Note: Captain Black’s Pirate Cigarettes are made entirely of bubble-gum so we suggest real cigarettes if you want to look legit.
